If you do not agree with this Privacy Policy, you should not use the Services.

1. Scope
This Privacy Policy applies to personal data processed by Parallel Globe Ltd when you:
- Create, access, or use an account on Parallel Globe, including via third-party authentication providers.
- Post, upload, publish, comment, react, or otherwise interact with content or other users.
- Use messaging, rooms, calls, or other communication features.
- Access or use our websites, applications, or related services.
- Communicate with us, including for support, security, or administrative purposes.
2. Information We Collect
Some information is required to create and maintain an account (for example an email address or third-party sign-in identifier). If you do not provide the required information, we may not be able to provide the Services. Other information is optional and depends on what you choose to share (for example profile bio or public posts).
A) Information you provide
- Account data: name or alias, username, email address, password (stored only as a securely hashed value, if you create one), and contact preferences.
- Profile data: any profile information you choose to share (e.g., bio, photo, links).
- User content: posts, comments, messages, uploaded media, and reports you submit.
- Verification data (Political Voice & Organisation verification): documents and related details required to confirm eligibility.
- Payments: billing only if you purchase paid features (processed via our payment providers).
B) Information from third-party sign-in providers (X)
If you choose to sign in using a third-party account (X), we receive information from that provider to create or access your Parallel Globe account. This may include:
- Provider account identifier (a unique ID provided to Parallel Globe).
- Basic profile information (such as display name and profile image), depending on what you approve.
- Email address, if provided by the sign-in provider and permitted by you.
We do not receive your third-party account password. You control what information you share with Parallel Globe via the provider’s consent screen/settings.
C) Information we collect automatically
- Device and usage data: IP address, browser/app type, operating system, pages viewed, clicks, timestamps, and referring URLs.
- Approximate location derived from IP address may be processed for security, fraud prevention, and service functionality.
- Cookies and similar technologies: We use essential cookies (and similar technologies) required to operate the Services and keep accounts secure. These may include cookies for authentication/session management (e.g., keeping you signed in), security (e.g., fraud/spam prevention and rate limiting), CSRF protection, storing cookie/consent preferences, storing language/locale preferences, and infrastructure routing/load balancing provided by our hosting/CDN. If we enable optional analytics or marketing cookies, we will present choices and request consent where required, and we will describe those cookies in our Cookie Policy.
- Communications protected by end-to-end encryption, including CipherCall communications, cannot be accessed, read, or decrypted by Parallel Globe. End-to-end encrypted communications are designed so that only the communicating users can access the content. Private messages are handled securely; end-to-end encryption for private messages is planned for a future release.
D) Sensitive data
Because Parallel Globe is built for civic and political discourse, you may choose to share political opinions or other sensitive information. We only process such sensitive data when you voluntarily provide it.
3. How We Use Your Information
Parallel Globe does not use personal data to create political profiling for advertising purposes and does not sell personal data.
We use personal data to:
- Provide and operate the Services (account creation, authentication, profiles, feeds, and core functionality).
- Enable communications (messaging, rooms, calls, notifications, and safety features).
- Protect the platform, users, and infrastructure (including spam prevention, fraud detection, security monitoring, abuse prevention, and service integrity protection).
- Moderate content and enforce Community Rules and Terms of Service.
- Improve the Services (diagnostics, performance analytics, product improvements).
- Provide customer support, and process payments if you purchase paid features.
- Comply with legal obligations, enforce these Terms, and defend Parallel Globe against legal claims or misuse of the Services.
4. Automated Content Screening (Text and Images)
To keep Parallel Globe safe and usable, we automatically screen content you submit for posting (such as public posts, comments, and uploaded images) for potential policy violations.
In practice, this means:
- Text may be checked for abusive or hateful language using automated detectors (e.g., Detoxify and XLM-RoBERTa).
- Images may be checked for nudity or sexually explicit content using automated classifiers (e.g., NudeNet).
- If the system flags content, we may reduce distribution, block posting, request edits, or route it for human review.
- We may apply additional checks during the initial activity period of newly verified accounts (for example after the first 5 posts) to protect trust and avoid misuse of the platform.
What this does NOT mean:
- We do not use these screening results to sell your personal data.
- We do not use these screening results for targeted advertising profiles.
- We do not scan end-to-end encrypted call content (CipherCall) for moderation.
- We cannot access , read, or decrypt the content of end-to-end encrypted CipherCall communications.
- You can report content, and you can appeal certain enforcement actions as described in our Help Centre.
5. Legal Bases for Processing (GDPR/EEA/UK)
Where GDPR or UK GDPR applies, we process personal data based on:
- Contract: to provide the Services you request.

- Legal obligations: when we must comply with applicable laws.
6. Sharing of Information
We may share personal data with:
- Service providers that help us operate the Services (e.g., hosting, security, content delivery, and payment processing), under contractual confidentiality and data protection obligations. Payment-related data may also be processed by Parallel Globe Ltd on behalf of Parallel Globe Ltd under appropriate data protection safeguards.
- Authorities or regulators when we are legally required to do so, or to protect rights, safety, and security.
- A successor entity if we undergo a merger, acquisition, or asset sale (with appropriate safeguards).
We do not sell personal data.
7. International Data Transfers
Parallel Globe processes and stores personal data across secure infrastructure in Iceland and Switzerland. The Parallel Globe website and most account data are hosted in Iceland, a member of the EEA, which provides full GDPR protections. PoliticTalk and CipherCall data are hosted in Switzerland. Photos and videos are delivered through a separate secure content delivery network. Where data is processed outside the EEA, Parallel Globe ensures appropriate safeguards are in place in accordance with GDPR, including Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent protections.
8. Data Retention
We retain personal data only as long as necessary to operate the Services.
Users may delete their accounts at any time. Inactive accounts may also be automatically deleted after 12 months.
Verification documents are deleted within 30 days of verification completion.

We use technical and organisational measures designed to protect personal data. No system is perfectly secure; please use strong passwords and keep your account details confidential.
12. Third-Party Services and Links
If you use third-party sign-in (X), your use of that service is also governed by its own terms and privacy policy. The Services may also include links to third-party sites; we are not responsible for their privacy practices.
13. Advertisements
Parallel Globe may display advertisements provided by independent third-party advertising partners. This section explains how advertising on the platform may affect your personal data.
What we do not do
- We do not sell your personal data to advertisers.
- We do not use your political opinions, beliefs, or activity on the platform to build advertising profiles.

How advertising works

Where those partners process personal data in connection with the delivery or measurement of advertisements, they do so in accordance with their own Privacy Policies, Cookie Policies, and applicable law.
Where required by law, Parallel Globe will obtain your consent before enabling non-essential advertising technologies. Advertising partners act as independent data controllers in respect of any personal data they process through their own advertising technologies. Parallel Globe is not responsible for their privacy or data protection practices.
Your choices
- You can manage your cookie preferences at any time through the Cookie Preferences.
- Where GDPR or UK GDPR applies, you may withdraw or modify your consent for non-essential advertising technologies at any time.
